[DFWBandsters] Re:Early morning stomach ache

Karen,

I very rarely had reflux before surgery either. If you get too tight, it is a fairly common side affect.

I would definitely start increasing your calories slowly. You might gain a little bit initially, but then, I would think you would start losing. Try to get up to at least 800 calories.

This advice is based on many, many years of dieting and researching diets. I had a good friend many years ago that was on an 800 calorie diet for 2 years, lost lots of weight, but then found that if she even went up to 1000 calories, she would gain. Her body got used to the 800 calories and learned how to survive on that. There was a diet out a few years back called the setpoint diet. You restricted your calories under 1000 for 3 days, then on the 4th day, you upped it to about 1500-1700 calories, then back down to 1000 for 3 days, etc. The idea was to fool your body so that it didn't come to rely on only the lower calories.

Just something else to think about. Good luck - I know that the reflux is just plain nasty. Over time, it can actually cause damage to your esphopogus (sp?), so you want to make sure to get it under control.
