Hi Jill, I'm not Karen, but I do know that you really need to be careful about lifting right after the surgery, I was just about 6 weeks banded (my doctor told me nothing over 10lbs for 6 weeks) and I lifted a pretty heavy microwave and I pulled a stitch out of my port. It really hurt and I was off work again for another week and I really didn't feel 100% for about another week after that. The port is stitched to a muscle and if you tear a stitch it is like tearing a muscle. I felt great about 2 weeks after the surgery and it is tempting to go back to doing the regular stuff you are used to doing, but I don't recommend it. As far as telling people I only told a few people in my family and no one at work except the medical dept, and I wished I didn't tell some of my family (sisters) cause every time I call them they want to know how much I lost, even if I just talked to them the day before, Its like I tell her I lost 6 oz since yesterday, now leave it alone. but maybe your family is not like mine. Everyone had a place in the family and I was the fat one and now I think everyone is on edge that if I go below them the family dynamics will change. Just my theory. Hope this helps and good luck.
Eileen
