Congratulations on your decision to be banded all together. You'll be great support for one another. Everyone on the board seem to have answered your questions. Here's my suggestions:
Walk the gas out. (use heat on shoulders for referred gas pain)
Use a pillow to splint your stomach when getting in/out of bed/chairs.
Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.
Take pain medications on a regular basis, as ordered.
