Hi, everyone. My Aetna policy requires you to go through a 3-mo.
supervised diet with the lapband surgery and a nutritionist.
Does anyone know what their expecations are of this and what it
consists of? If I were able to follow a diet under the
supervision of a doctor and nutritionist, I wouldn't need
the lapband surgery. I can understand three monthly visits
to learn more about nutrition and what to expect of the band,
but an actual diet where you have to drink liquids for 3 mos.
or do "whatever" seems a little useless. If you actually stay
on the diet for 3 mos. and lose 20 pounds, do they decide you
don't need the surgery? If you wind up losing nothing or
gaining ten pounds, do they figure you don't have the will-
power to make the band work for you? Just wondering what the
point is other than education. Cathy in Texas
