Hi everyone,
I've not posted on here for a long time. I've been waiting over a
year for my hip resurfacing, but first I had to fully heal from an
osteotomy on my femur, which I found out last week has now healed
fully at last!
So I'm booked in for resurfacing surgery on February 28th.
My surgeon is the wonderful John O'Hara, based in Birmingham UK - he
is a colleague of McMinn and was involved in the original design of
the BHR.
I don't know what type of resurfacing device he is going to put in
me, except I know it will have 2 screws in the cup as my hip socket
is so shallow. I have held one in my hands but I don't know what make
it was! (Frankly I don't really care, as I trust O'Hara implicitly,
he is the only surgeon who's ever been able to help with my extremely
complex case).
However, he did mention that I'd be getting a "slightly different
version" from the one I was holding, because he has "just patented a
new one" but he said it wasn't much different.
Does anyone know what he's patented? I'm a bit worried in case it's
that Oxinium device which I read about on Surface Hippy this morning.
