Maurice,
I'm sure it would have been possible for me to get a definitive
diagnosis...
Last fall, I contacted Lee Webb by email and described my symptoms;
she said initially, it sounded like psoas tendonitis. In December I
contacted her by phone (after the PT failed to cure it) and we
discussed it in more detail. At that point she said it sounded like
it could be trochanteric bursitis (an in-person appointment would
probably have saved some confusion - but I'm a long way from
Collumbia, SC).....I made an appointment with a local Rehab physician
in December who also said it appears to be bursitis... but he asked me
to give Mobic and icing a try for a month to see if that resolved it.
Now, a month later, I'm going for a cortisone shot tomorrow with the
same rehab physician...
Looking back, this has all taken longer than it should have to get to
this point. I blame the awkwardness of using email for a diagnosis,
combined with the fact that I didn't follow up with much urgency
(since it only bothered me whenever trying to run...or on occasional
hikes). I did a fair bit of cycling (road and mountain bike) during
the summer and had no trouble whatsoever with those activities.
Anyway, this link will get you to the info/order site for the foam
rollers (via another SH post first).
