I saw a show on TV about a man that had his hip replaced a week ago.
He was on TV with his doctor!! I was surprised they had him on
television lol, as he complained about everything. He was a pretty
big guy and said that pain was very severe the first four days, and
he called the pain a beast:)LOL He also said he can't lift his leg
up at all and has to have a rope to lift his leg. Now, I am not
talking bending, I am talking about lifting his heal off the floor.
He not only complained about the pain being really bad, even after a
week, but that his leg is swollen from the hip to his foot, and that
he is having a hard time finding pants to get on and shoes to get
on! Is this normal? My Dad had his hip replaced back in the 70's
when I was a kid, and I don't remember all of this!!!!!! I had a
feeling this man might have some health issues. Now, this was not
hip resurfacing, this was a hip replacement. But, with all his
compalints, I would not say he was a good one to have on TV. LOL I
know everyone is different when it comes to pain. I have had MANY
surgeries, too many to mention, even to do with cancer, and I have
had pain, but with a couple of surgeries I told the nurses to take
the pain pump away that I only wanted Tylenol because I didn't want
drugs, and I was able to handle it. Is hip resurfacing a really
painful surgery afterwards? I mean I know there will be pain, but I
was told it can be tolerated!!! This man on television made it sound
really awful with his hip replacement. I know these are advanced
questions for me, because I have a lot of figuring out to do yet
before I get to this point, and whether there is pain or not, I still
have to have it done;)LOL
